Rinsing rice before cooking removes excess starch, which is the main cause of overboiling and uneven cooking results.
How to rinse
- Place rice in the inner pot
- Fill with water and swish the rice with your hand
- Drain and repeat 3-5 times, or until the water runs mostly clear
- After the final rinse, drain completely and refill to the water line matching the cup count
Always add rice first, then water. Fill the measuring cup to the brim for an accurate measurement.
